Project Purpose and Problem

Weight-and-balance calculations are highly data-intensive and critical for aviation safety. In an environment where operators must make decisions within seconds, the core problem was the need to translate complex aircraft data quickly into a clear interface that can be acted on. Even the smallest reading difficulty or interface-driven error on this screen carries a risk of vital consequences for flight safety.

Research and Design Strategy

Approaching the project with Design Engineer rigor, I worked shoulder to shoulder with the THY team to understand real operational scenarios. My core goal was to reduce the operator's cognitive load to a minimum. Accordingly, from the wireframe stage onward, I built an inclusive, user-centered interface architecture, removed visual noise from the screens, and prioritized the data.

Design Decisions and Solution

To simplify dense calculations and guarantee interface consistency, I developed a project-specific UI Kit (Design System) using Ant Design Components. With error-prevention mechanisms that eliminate operational risk, clear typographic hierarchy, and accessible color coding, I transformed complex data into a user-friendly ecosystem.

Outcome

A tested and successfully completed aviation software product was delivered that accelerates weight-and-balance operations forming the foundation of flight safety, minimizes operator error, and meets Turkish Airlines standards.
